Violin performer Saule Kilaite has designed a fascinating musical show that blends music, songs, words and video art, a show she herself presents and which is completely dedicated to the spirit of Christmas. Surprise guest artists will join her on stage, such as the multi-talented artist Lidia Bonacina and the clarinet performer Marino Delgado Rivilla. With the joy, energy and emotion that they are famous for, these three artists this time meet under a virtual Christmas tree to tell Christmas stories - as well as their own stories – through the best-known and best-loved festive music from around the world.
THE FLAVOUR OF CHRISTMAS…memories of childhood making us smile as we decorate the tree, forgotten dreams remembered, lights and colours brightening up all the towns, streets, houses, gardens, frenzied shopping for presents, Christmas cake adverts – but also heartfelt words, hugs and thoughts…because everybody tries to be a better person at Christmas. The air vibrates in anticipation of the magic that has for thousands of years surrounded this festive period. And then there’s the music…carefree and joyful music bringing to life that simple, genuine emotion that you can only get from a Christmas carol like “Silent Night” o “Adeste Fidelis/O Come All Ye Faithful”.
The audience can soak up this “mid-winter night’s” atmosphere together with the artists, singing along and reliving the memories evoked by these Christmas carols and tunes. The festive music is taken from Saule Kilaite’s new CD ‘Christmas Violin’, which contains her own personal arrangements.
